Group Staff Lee Winestone Transportation
Technician Lee Winestone is a transportation
technician with five years of research and practical experience in bus stop
facilities inventory and assessment, including Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) accessibility and safety.
His background includes bus stop evaluation, pedestrian safety, and
Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Mr.
Winestone played an integral part in inventorying over 5,000 bus stops for
the Ride-On transit system in Montgomery County, Maryland, including all bus
stop features pertaining to location, safety, accessibility, pedestrian
access and connections, amenities, and signage. Mr. Winestone was not only responsible for
accurately collecting all the features using Global Positioning System (GPS)
technology, but also taking pictures of each stop and any issues/problems at
the stop. He also participated in the
assessment and recommendations phase of the project. In
addition to his bus stop survey work in Montgomery County, Mr. Winestone also
played a key role in KFH Group’s regional bus stop inventory for the
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, and was integral in the
survey effort to gather data in a study analyzing parking demand in the City
of Alexandria, Virginia’s King Street Retail Corridor. Mr.
Winestone is currently working with the Montgomery County Department Public
Works and Transportation, Division of Transit Services, on the implementation
of the bus stop improvement plan. His
responsibilities include review of site designs, monitoring construction of
improvements, updating the bus stop database, and serving as liaison with the
contractors who are installing the improvements. Mr.
Winestone is also a professional artist, working primarily in watercolors,
with an extensive background in visual arts and art supply sales and
management. His works were recently
exhibited as “Fragile Beauty: The Coral Reef Paintings of Lee Winestone"
at the Concept Foundry Gallery in Bethesda |
