Holly Chase

Transportation Planner
Bethesda Office

As a Transportation Planner, Holly Chase supports projects by collecting and analyzing data, creating GIS maps, conducting research, and writing reports.

Selected Experience

Since joining KFH Group, Ms. Chase has worked on six-year transit development plans for the Lake Country Area Agency on Aging (VA), Carroll Area Transit System (MD), and Allegany County Transit (MD). She has analyzed transportation needs through demographic data, on-board rider surveys, and stakeholder input, using this information to develop alternatives for demand response and deviated fixed route service. Ms. Chase uses ArcGIS to create maps portraying service alternatives, and has assisted in outlining details such as service spans and headways, operating and capital costs, and potential funding sources. Ms. Chase is also helping to evaluate pedestrian accessibility and ADA compliance in Arlington County, VA.

Ms. Chase's graduate research focused on the transportation needs of the aging population. Using focus group and MPO survey data, her thesis evaluated potential elderly mobility strategies such as ridesharing, carsharing, and member-based demand response services.  Ms. Chase also interned with the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development in Somerville, Massachusetts while completing her degree.  Among other projects, she wrote staff report recommendations for Planning and Zoning Board members, interfaced with city committees and community groups, and clarified ordinance regulations for property owners and developers.

Ms. Chase also has a background in land preservation and farmland policy.  In the development department of American Farmland Trust, she drafted correspondence describing organizational initiatives and coordinated cultivation and solicitation mailings to the organization's major donors.
